First and foremost, my work is about technique. It is about the pure fundamentals of art…color, shape, texture, space and form. It is simply about bringing those elements together in a well composed, aesthetically pleasing piece of art. My satisfaction is in the process of creating. My goal is to create a technically well-made piece that is appreciated for its beauty. I wish for people viewing my art to pause, appreciate, get drawn in by the materials, step back and look at the work as a whole and, simple say, that’s beautiful. If the work evokes a memory or a conversation, then fantastic, but the first reaction should always be a calm, cathartic exhale.
